NZX 50 index drops 12 points

The stock exchange's benchmark NZX 50 index fell 12 points on Tuesday, to 3804 points on turnover of $124 million.

Cornerstone stock Telecom dropped 1.5 cents to $2.48.5, while Fletcher Building fell 6 cents to $6.88.

Bigger falls, in proportion to their value, were recorded by Sky City Entertainment, down 6 cents to $3.82, Oceana Gold down 7 cents to $3.75, and Hallenstein down 6 cents to $4.44.

Sky Network TV fell 2 cents to $5.02, Heartland fell 2 cents to 61 cents, and Tower was down 1 cent to $1.77, while Property for Industry fell 0.5 cent to $1.15, and Fisher and Paykel Appliances fell 0.5 cent to $1.18.5.

Fisher and Paykel Healthcare fell 2 cents to $2.14.

Chorus rose 4 cents to $3.54, Contact rose 5 cents to $5.09, The Warehouse rose 1 cent to $2.93,

Cavalier rose 9 cents to $1.93, Michael Hill rose 3 cents to $1.19.

At the close of the local business day, the NZ dollar was trading at 82.78 US cents, 79.17 Australian cents, 50.97 pence, 65.11 yen, 0.6321 euro, and the TWI was at 73.29 points.
