NZX 50 rises 25 points on Friday

The New Zealand stock market's benchmark NXZ 50 index rose 25 points on Friday to close at 3834 on turnover of $118 million.

The price of Air NZ shares finished the day up 6 cents at $1.16.

Similarly large rises were recorded by Sky City (up 6 cents to $3.78), Fisher and Paykel Healthcare (up 7 cents to $2.30), and Xero (up 20 cents to $5.20).

Port of Tauranga rose 12 cents to $12.69, while rises of 2 cents were recorded by Contact (to $5.28), Sky TV (to $5.10) and The Warehouse (to $2.94).

Cornerstone stock Telecom fell 4 cents to $2.38, Auckland Airport fell 1 cent to $2.62, and Mainfreight fell 5 cents to 10.15.

Pumpkin Patch fell 2 cents to $1.16 after this week announcing a loss in its full year results to the end of July.

At 5.28pm, the NZ dollar was buying 83.54 US cents, 79.85 Australian cents, 51.38 pence, 64.73 yen, 0.6460 of a euro, and the TWI was at 74.00 points.
