NZX rises 19 points on Monday

The stock exchange''s benchmark NZX50 index rose 19 points, or half a percent, on Monday to close at 3924 on turnover of $88 million.

Fletcher Building rose 1 cent to $7.48, Chorus rose 2 cents to $3.33, and Contact Energy rose 13 cents to $5.47.

Bigger gains were recorded by retailer The Warehouse, up 9 cents to $3.09, Mainfreight up 16 cents to $10.56, Freightways up 10 cents to $4.38, and miner OceanaGold up 8 cents to $4.15.

Diligent Board Member Services rose 5 cents to $3.85, Hallenstein Glasson rose 5 cents to $4.95, and Vector rose 4 cents to $2.88.

Prices which ended the day unchanged included cornerstone stock Telecom ($2.38) and Sky City Entertainment Group ($3.80).

Sky TV Network fell 3 cents to $5.06, Air New Zealand fell 2 cents to $1.25, and Allied Farmers fell 0.4 cents to 2.5 cents after its auditor declined to sign-off on the company's annual report.

The New Zealand dollar finished the business day at 81.76 US cents, 80.45 Australian cents, 50.72 pence, 64.17 yen, 0.6291 of a euro and the TWI was at 73.01 points.
