AMP funds grow on back of share returns

The investment fund manager, AMP Capital, says its fund portfolios have been buoyed by performance in the stock exchange.

AMP's Diversified Funds made gains in the year to September, with its Growth Fund rising 17.7% and the Balance Fund up 4.8%.

The fund manager's head of investment strategy Keith Poore, says funds weighted towards shares performed better.

He says the fund is operating in a low yield environment so safe categories like bonds are giving low returns, however, equity funds although more volatile have rewarded investors with healthier returns.
