Overseas royalties earned £188 million for British artists last year.
The PRS for Music organisation collects royalties from 150 countries on behalf of 90,000 UK songwriters, composers and music publishers.
Earnings totalled £187.7 million in 2011 - up 10% on 2010.
PRS says income earned abroad has doubled in the last decade, from £88 million in 2002.
