NZX 50 down 24 points on Tuesday

The NZX 50 index fell 13 points on Tuesday to 3970 on turnover of $71 million.

Chorus rose one cent to $3.28, and Contact rose 6 cents to $5.27.

Ryman rose 3 cents to $4.09, TradeMe rose 5 cents to $4.19, TrustPower rose 5 cents to $8.60, and accounting software seller Xero rose again, by 6 cents to $6.36.

Infrastructure investor Infratil rose half a cent to $2.18 despite reporting a $17 million loss due to writedowns and revaluations.

Stocks unchanged in price included Mainfreight - which ended the day's trading at $10.40 after reporting a 15% fall in half year profit - Guiness Peat Group (59 cents) and Freightways ($4.38).

Fletcher Building fell 7 cents to $7.41, Restaurant Brands fell 1 cent to $2.68, and Sky City fell 2 cents to $3.88,

At the end of the business day, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 81.67 US cents, 78.48 Australian cents, 51.47 British pence, 64.77 Japanese yen, 0.6440 euro and the TWI was at 73.17 points.
