Pumpkin Patch faces crunch point

Pumpkin Patch expects another volatile trading year and says the next six weeks are critical to the company's performance.

The children's clothing retailer told shareholders at the annual meeting in Auckland on Tuesday that after two years of restructuring, the company is in a better position with a bigger focus on online sales.

Tuesday's annual meeting in Auckland was told that the company is now a multi-channel retailer and online sales are now worth the same as total sales of all the New Zealand stores.

But chief executive Neil Cowie said it is difficult to predict whether the company can better its 2012 sales.

He says the company has no plans to open new stores, but will focus on growing international sales through franchise and wholesale deals as well as online.
