Spirits, salmon and honey have the potential to recreate New Zealand's wine export success according to a report commissioned by the Government to look at potential emerging food and beverage export categories.

The study looked at all of the country's categories within those industries with an export value of between $US2 million - $US100 million, and boiled it down to 20 types of exports.

Author Tim Morris, who is also a director of market research firm Coriolis, said the categories were chosen based on which ones had strong and consistent export growth over time.
