Air New Zealand is forecasting its first half year pre-tax normalised earnings will be between $120 and $140 million.

The national carrier says full year earnings will reflect the more traditional seasonal pattern of a stronger first half performance.

The company repeated that it expects full year pre-tax earnings to more than double last year's $91 million result.

Air New Zealand shares rose 2.5 cents to $1.27 each on Wednesday.
