New Zealand market down

The benchmark NZX50 index has fallen 30 points, or 0.8%, to close at 3995 on turnover of $141 million.

When the markets closed, the NZ dollar was at 83.91 US, 79.71 Australian, 52.09 pence, 69.36 yen and 0.6453 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 74.93.

Shares in Chorus were unchanged at $2.72, Ebos Group was down 8 cents to $8.40 and shares in Fletcher Building were down 17 cents to $8.28.

Hellenstein Glassons shares were unchanged at $5.05, Kathmandu was up 1 cent to $1.96 and NZ Refinery was down 2 cents at $2.60.

Shares in New Zealand Oil & Gas were down 1 cent at 87 cents, despite news the company has been awarded two further permits in the Taranaki basin.

Pumpkin Patch was up 6 cents to $1.40, SkyCity Entertainment was down 2 cents to $3.60 and Sky Network Television was up 3 cents to $4.86.

Telecom was down 4.5 cents to $2.19.

Warehouse was down 7 cents to $2.95 amd Port of Tauranga was up 2 cents at $13.12 after acquiring Quality Marshalling.
