Services sector activity down

Activity in the services sector has dropped, but it's still in expansion mode.

The BNZ-Business New Zealand Performances of Services Index fell 4 points to 54.1 in November, after a strong rebound in the previous month.

A reading above 50 indicates the sector is expanding. The services sector includes banks, accommodation, hospitality, transport and health.

The pace of activity slowed for new orders and business, and new activity and sales.

Business New Zealand chief executive Phil O'Reilly says things are still tough for services businesses.
