Tim Miles to head Telecom's Gen-i

Telecom has appointed industry veteran Tim Miles as chief executive of its Gen-i unit which provides telecommunications services for large firms.

Mr Miles started his career with IBM, spent time at Unisys and worked for Vodafone for about six years until late 2006, including four years as head of its New Zealand operation.

He was also managing director at PGG Wrightson for three years until resigning abruptly in October 2010.

He will start at Gen-i in early February, and succeeds Chris Quin, who took over running Telecom's retail arm a couple of months ago.

Telecom chief executive Simon Moutter says he's delighted to have encouraged Mr Miles back to the information and communication technology sector in which he has spent the majority of his career.
