Inflation in Australia rose by less than expected, raising the prospect of further interest rate cuts.
Official figures show the Consumer Price Index rose 0.2% in the three months to December, and annual inflation at 2.2% reports the ABC.
Underlying inflation, which removes the most volatile price movements and is closely monitored by the Australia's Reserve Bank, is in the bottom half of the central bank's 2 to 3% target band, at 2.3% for the year.
