Pan Pacific Petroleum is about to start drilling off the coast of Vietnam.
The company, which is listed on both the New Zealand and Australian stock exchanges, says it expects to start the new well in the first week of June.
Pan Pacific has a 15% interest in the permit. Origin has a 45% stake, and and Premier Oil 40%.
