Nelson skincare business expands into Europe

A Nelson organic skincare company has announced its expansion into Europe, just four months after the firm's inception.

Plantae Certified Organic Skincare in Nelson has signed a contract with UK-based distributor Purely Natural Cosmetics to launch its products into Europe.

The company was started up only last December and founder Carol Priest says the expansion into Europe is a lot earlier than anticipated.

Sales and marketing manager Janelle Priest says they have plans to expand further.

She says the company is already in Canada, which is also delivering to USA, while the UK is also delivering to the European Union, so the company is starting to get a good reach.

Ms Priest says the company would also like a presence in Asia and Australia.

All its products are certified organic by BioGro, New Zealand's premium organic certifying authority and Ms Priest says it is this accreditation which has caught the attention of the European market.

Plantae products are formulated using nutrient rich, skin-protecting antioxidants, including super fruits and herbal seed extracts.

Ms Priest says they were able to find many of these ingredients in Nelson where there is a very high standard of organic materials, particularly for the cosmetics industry.

The products are being showcased by a beauty expert on Canadian television, something the firm hopes will boost its position in the market in North America.

The firm now has plans to travel to Australia and Asia to seek out further global expansion opportunities.
