Downer EDI and GE Australia will build stage one of a $A350 million wind farm in the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales.

When all stages are completed, the wind farm will consist of more than 100 turbines.

AAP reports the Downer GE Consortium will deliver the full engineering, procurement and construction for stage one of the project. GE will supply and commission 67 wind turbine generators.

Downer chief executive Grant Fenn said the consortium looked forward to using its capabilities and expertise in the renewable energy sector.

Construction will start in the third quarter of 2013 and power delivery should begin from the fourth quarter of 2014.
