Spending at Boxing Day sales appears to have grown again this year, though not by as much as in previous years.
Eftpos provider Paymark processed $101 million in transactions on Saturday - a $6 million (5.3%) increase on 2008.
Purchases through Paymark rose by 8% in 2008 compared to the year before, and by 30% in 2007.
Boxing Day transactions were less than half the value of purchases made on Christmas Eve.
The company handles about three-quarters of the country's Efptos transactions.
