The retirement village operator Summerset has reported a boost in quarterly sales which it attributes to its strong brand.
New sales and resales of its occupation rights rose 23% in the three months to June compared with the same period last year, and were up 12% on the March quarter.
Summerset is New Zealand's third largest operator and the second largest developer of retirement villages with more than 2200 residents in total.
Chief executive Norah Barlow says there are multiple reasons for its jump in sales, including the company's solid brand and the fact that it's well regarded as a good performer and good community provider. It also has a good team, she says - "and a good set of village residents, to be honest".
