Electricity generator and retailer Contact Energy's mass market electricity sales fell 8% to 378 gigawatt hours in June compared with the same month last year, while sales in the year ended June fell 2.9% to 4067 gigawatt hours.
However, Contact's commercial and industrial electricity sales rose 13.8% to 347 gigawatt hours in the month and and 2.9% in the year.
The company said its customer numbers, at 439,500, were unchanged from May but down by 4000 compared with June last year.
