Alliance with Emirates should boost NZ tourism - Qantas

9:18 pm on 26 July 2013

Qantas and Emirates say their new alliance across the Tasman will lure more tourists to New Zealand as they market cities like Wellington and Queenstown to a global audience.

The two airlines already have a global alliance, and from 14 August will align their airfares, frequent flyer programmes and baggage policies across the Tasman.

Airlines have struggled to make this highly competitive route profitable.

But the head of international sales at Qantas, Stephen Thompson, says the tie up will not only make the route more economical for the companies, but passengers and destinations will be winners too.
