TrustPower mass market customer sales down

TrustPower says mass market customer sales were down 2% in the June quarter and competition remains intense across all retail segments.

The electricity generation and retail company says lower hydro and wind production meant its generation production of 579 gigawatt hours in the three months to the end of June was down 4% on the same three months last year.

TrustPower says hydro storage levels improved to above average in the three months and consequently wholesale electricity prices were significantly lower than in that quarter in 2012.

The Snowtown wind farm's production of 85 gigawatt hours was down 4% on the year-earlier quarter and 2% below long-term expectations.
