A fund manager says a $1 billion transaction which saw Ebos purchase Symbion, its counterpart in Australia, is a game-changer.

The purchase at the end of May saw the seller, Zuellig Group of Hong Kong, become a 40% shareholder in Ebos.

Milford Asset Managment, which has held a stake in Ebos since 2011, was one of the backers of the transaction, paying for an additional 1.25 million shares in the placement and rights issue which helped fund the deal.

Milford analyst William Curtayne said the deal puts Ebos in a very good place and it's a good sign when a major shareholder remains in the business.
