Former defence building purchase unconditional

Argosy Property says its purchase of 15 Stout Street in Wellington is now unconditional and settlement will take place this week.

The 33.2 million purchase of the former Ministry of Defence building was announced in December last year, when Argosy raised $100 million to fund new purchases, and had been expected to settle in January.

The company did not explain the delay other than the purchase had taken some considerable time to finalise.

In April, Argosy said the documentation for the purchase had been completed and settlement was awaiting final confirmation from the government as tenant of the terms and documentation of the sale.

The tenancy agreement with the government was signed in January.

The Stout Street property is subject to an agreement to redevelop and lease the building to the Government for a 12 year term on completion, expected in July next year.
