Crown Fibre Holdings says UFB rollout on track

7:46 am on 9 August 2013

Crown Fibre Holdings, the government agency overseeing the ultra-fast broadband rollout, says the project has exceeded its targets and is now 20% complete.

Strategy director Rohan MacMahon says the companies involved in the project, including the listed lines company Chorus, have ramped up their build efforts.

The project aims to ensure 75% of the population can access UFB by the end of 2019.

Mr MacMahon says the project has now reached a pace which needs to be kept up for the rest of the decade to attain goal.

He says over 300,000 households, businesses and schools in cities and towns now have access to optic fibre through the UFB programme.
