The Qantas-owned airline, Jetstar, says it is expanding its trans-Tasman services with a thrice-weekly service between Auckland and Adelaide from 16 December.

Adelaide will be Jetstar's fourth trans-Tasman destination; it currently flies to Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast from Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown.

The head of Jetstar New Zealand, Grant Kerr, says the launch delivers the first direct low fares flights between the two cities; it is offering special one-way fares from $99, although its regular one-way fares start from $219.
