Rate held by Bank of England

The Bank of England is keeping interest rates on hold at 0.5%. The rate has been at that level since March 2009.

The BBC reports the bank's monetary police committee said on Thursday it would make no change to the £375 billion in monetary stimulus it is providing through a quantitative easing programme.

Last month, Governor Mark Carney said the bank would not consider raising interest rates until the unemployment rate fell below 7%.
