NSW govt rules out buying Sydney tunnel

The state government in New South Wales has ruled out buying the Cross City Tunnel in Sydney, which is in voluntary administration again.

Receivers have reportedly been appointed to manage the tunnel for the second time in seven years.

AAP reports Roads Minister Duncan Gay on Friday rejected speculation about a purchase, saying the government did not have the money.

"That is just an urban myth, that's not happening," he said.

CrossCity Motorway was also put into receivership in 2006 only a year after opening. AAP reports inflated traffic numbers were blamed.
