Rabobank fined over Libor fixing

2:01 pm on 30 October 2013

Dutch bank Rabobank is the latest institution to be fined over the Libor scandal.

Rabobank has agreed to pay about $US 1 billion to settle American, British and Dutch charges for manipulating the Libor rate, the benchmark interest rate used by banks across the world.

Rabobank says 30 of its employees were in some way involved, but that senior management was neither involved or aware of this.

In light of the findings, the chairman of the bank's executive board has resigned with immediate effect.
