Bathurst eager to start mining at Denniston

12:35 pm on 19 November 2013

Bathurst Resources is fully committed to start mining on the Denniston Plateau on the West Coast as soon as possible.

The company said the period for possible appeals on a decision by the Environment Court to grant resource consent for the Escarpment mine project has lapsed with no appeals lodged.

An agreement was earlier reached between Bathurst and the Forest & Bird Protection Society of New Zealand which agreed not to appeal the court's final consent decision.

Bathurst said its submission of 25 management plans to the Department of Conservation, Iwi and the councils is well under way and it expects these plans to be signed off by mid-January.
