Retail spending using electronic cards has increased.

Official figures show spending using debit, credit and charge cards, rose a seasonally adjusted 0.6% in November, compared with the previous month.

Excluding cars and vehicle parts, core retail spending increased zero point three percent.

Statistics New Zealand says the increase is mainly due to people spending more on food and drink.

Spending using electronic cards accounts for two-thirds of all retail spending.
