TradeMe says the number of people visiting the online auction site through a tablet or a smartphone has grown to almost half of all users.
Spokesperson Paul Ford says about 35% of all users on the site were using a mobile device in 2012.
He says that is growing by 1% per month and is now about 45% of all those who visit the site.
Mr Ford says it means people will spend less time on the site each visit, but are likely to visit more often.
