Growth predicted to slow slightly

ANZ Bank says an analysis of traffic flows suggests the economy won't grow as fast in the first half of this year as it did in the second half of last year.

The bank's 'truckometer' measures the economy by traffic flows on certain roads.

The heavy traffic index rebounded 1.4% in December after falling 1.5% in November.

ANZ chief economist Cameron Bagrie says growth may slow slightly in the first sixth months of 2014 compared but the underlying trend is still positive.
