Airline to increase flights from Auckland to Guangzhou

Auckland International Airport says China Southern Airlines is increasing its number of flights between Auckland and Guangzhou between the end of February and the end of October.

Last year, the Chinese airline increased its weekly flights on the route from seven to 10 over the peak New Zealand summer period of 2013 and 2014.

Continued strong demand for this service means its additional flights will see an extra 45,000 seats available on Boeing 787 aircraft.

The airport's aeronautical commercial general manager, Glenn Wedlock, says the strong growth in Chinese arrivals means it is already ahead of its 2020 target of 573,000 visitor arrivals from China.
