Auckland's largest real estate agency sold more houses in January than it has for any January in six years.
Still, the prices of houses Barfoot and Thompson sold in January eased while new listings of houses available for sale jumped.
Barfoot's average selling price for the 854 houses sold was just over $647,000, down nearly 8 percent on its average price in December.
That's despite the agency selling 91 houses for more than $1 million, an exceptionally high level of such sales for the first month of the year.
Managing director Peter Thompson, says the 1228 new listings were excellent for a January.
