A2 looks to fresh milk market in USA

Speciality milk company A2 Corporation has announced plans to try and break into the American fresh milk market.

The company posted a first-half profit to December of $643,000, up 16 percent from the same time the year before.

The six-month period saw strong growth in Australia, and the first sales of infant formula in China, but also slower-than-expected revenue growth in Britain.

A2 managing director Geoff Babidge says the company's next move is into the American fresh milk market, although there is not yet any launch date for A2 products in the US.

He says the milk will obviously be sourced locally from within the US and A2 will be showcased at a major natural food exhibition which is being held at Anaheim in California next March.

Mr Babidge says funds from the company's $54 million revenues are also being used to improve its performance in Britain and in China.
