An Auckland-based software company is making waves around the world with its product for large companies.

Gentrack makes software for electricity and water companies, as well as airports. It employs 180 people in three different countries and has been running for about 25 years.

Gentrack's revenue reached the $40 million mark for the first time last year, with 70 percent of that revenue coming from overseas markets.

The company's marketing manager Aaron Baker says Gentrack's business is on the up because there is demand for great software solutions in the water and energy sectors in a number of countries.
