American oil and gas exploration company Anadarko has applied for five-year extension for an exploration permit off New Zealand's southern coast.
The Government said on Wednesday that Anadarko is applying for an extension through New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals.
It said it would make a decision on whether to grant the additional five years within three months.
