The pharmaceutical and medical supplies company's profit for the year ended June more than tripled to $92.1 million.

That reflected its $1.1 billion purchase of the Australia-based business, Symbion, in June last year.

The company has a large war chest with nearly $370 million in committed but unused banking facilities.

The company's managing director for the last 30 years, Mark Waller, is about to step down from that role to become an executive director charged with looking for more businesses to buy, ahead of becoming chairman in October 2015.

Mr Waller said it might be time to look outside of Australasia.

"Australia, New Zealand is really where we are now, with a little bit in the Pacific. We'd probably in the first instance, for the right opportunities, look at Asia next."
