The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has finished investigating finance company collapses and is completely focused on what is happening in the markets today, it says.
It report on its investigations for the year ended June highlights a broad range of issues threatening financial markets.
FMA investigations and enforcement unit director Belinda Moffat said as well as enforcement work, the authority wanted to raise investors' awareness about the rules which governed the markets.
