Manufacturing sales rise

12:58 pm on 8 December 2014

The volume of manufacturing sales has risen modestly.

Official figures show the seasonally adjusted volume rose by 0.4 percent in the three months to September.

Statistics New Zealand says the main contribution came from metal products, with production rising 5.1 percent.

That offset a 1.4 percent decline in meat and dairy production.

Excluding meat and dairy sales, manufacturing volumes rose by 0.7 percent.

The department says the trend for the total volume of manufacturing sales has flattened after recent rises.

Including price changes, the value of sales fell 1.2 percent to $24.2 billion, reflecting the fall in meat and dairy product manufacturing sales.
