Share market finishes down 16 points

The NZX 50 index was down 16 points to 3353 on turnover of $95 million on Tuesday.

Fletcher Building finished the day down 14c at $6.43, Infratil was up 2c to $2.22, Sky Television was up 14c to $4.89 and Telecom was down 3c to $3.33.

The dollar was buying 69.70 US cents, 79.48 Australian cents, 36.62 pence, 76.82 yen and 0.4685 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 64.59.

The Australian share market closed moderately higher on Tuesday, driven by renewed strength in global miners BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.

The S&P/ASX200 was up 27.5 points to 5053.6, while the All Ordinaries rose 21.1 points to 5090.4.

The September share price index futures contract rose nine points to 030 on 19,051 contracts.
