Mainfreight grows sales

Mainfreight says strong sales growth in the domestic and US markets are behind an increase in profit for the first quarter.

The trucking company recorded a $8.2 million net profit for the three months to June, a 40% increase on the same time last year. Revenue increased by 17.9% to $289 million.

Managing director, Don Braid, says it's a satisfactory result as the first quarter is usually the company's slowest. Trading for July and August is in line with last year and he remains cautiously optimistic about the company's performance for the rest of the year.
