Earnings for the New Zealand screen industry were down in 2007.

Statistics New Zealand says television and feature films earned $2.4 billion - $137 million less than the previous 12 months.

Television work earned the most, increasing by $10 million to $1.8 billion.

The Screen Directors' Guild says less work was commissioned, partly due to the high New Zealand dollar, but the industry is now vibrant and busy.
