Netflix will launch its New Zealand service tomorrow, with its cheapest plans starting at just under $9.99 a month.
The internet-based television market has become very crowded, with Netflix competing with Sky Network Television's Neon, Spark's Lightbox, Quickflix, and Netflix's own United States parent - which New Zealanders can access.
Research director at IDC Peter Wise said Netflix's cheaper plans should help it gain traction, although what it offers viewers would be the key to its long term success.
He said Netflix would offer customers a free monthly trial, but whether they stay with Netflix would depend on its content.
