Retail spending using electronic cards up

Retail spending using electronic cards has risen.

Official figures show spending using debit, credit and charge cards rose a seasonally adjusted 0.5 percent in June, following a revised 1.3 percent gain in the previous month.

Statistics New Zealand said that was due to people spending more on fuel.

If cars and fuel were excluded, core retail spending remains unchanged.
