Job ad index falls slightly

8:04 pm on 3 August 2017

Job advertisements have dipped slightly after record levels but employers still want skilled staff.

ANZ's job ads index fell a seasonally-adjusted 1 percent in July, compared with June.

Auckland remains strong, while Wellington and Canterbury have eased.

Job ads in the regions continue to grow ahead of those main centres.

ANZ senior economist Sharon Zollner said there was a strong appetite for hiring and job ads remained at high levels.

Official figures out yesterday showed the unemployment rate fell slightly in the June quarter to 4.8 percent because people gave up looking for work.
