Dairy prices down after record amount of trading

Prices are down at the global dairy trade auction overnight, with trading dragging on for a record 22 rounds.

The price of whole milk powder has fallen for the first time this year - down by 0.8 percent to $US3232 a tonne.

The average price overall fell 0.6 percent to $3593 a tonne.

It is the second consecutive fall this year after a several strong auctions in January and early February.

Trading went on for 22 rounds and HighGround Dairy market analysts said there seemed to be an anomaly with the skim milk powder sales.
