New Zealand market down four points

The NZX 50 index closed down four points to 2747 on turnover of $62 million on Tuesday.

Fletcher Building was up 1 cent to $5.86, Contact Energy was up 11c to $7.43 and Telecom was down 1c to $2.34.

Pumpkin Patch was up 1c to 97c, while Sky Television was unchanged at $3.85.

Infratil was down 6c to $1.59 after the company announced that chief executive Lloyd Morrison has leukaemia and is stepping down during medical treatment.

The dollar was buying 55.38 US cents, 81.05 Australian cents, 37.21 pence, 50.36 yen and 0.4144 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 54.75.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index was up 20 points to 3571 by Tuesday afternoon.
