Thumbs-up for telecoms' response to complaints

5:31 pm on 8 March 2009

Telecommunications companies have won praise for the way they are dealing with complaints.

The praise comes in the first annual report of the Telecommunication Dispute Resolution Scheme, which handles complaints from customers of member companies.

The report says most complaints were about billing, with the next most common being customer service and faults.

The chief executive officer of the Telecommunications Carriers' Forum, Ralph Chivers, says the scheme has been well used in its first year, and disputes have been resolved more quickly than forecast.

Mr Chivers says all telecommunications companies should join the scheme.
