NZ market closes on positive note

The New Zealand share market rose 15 points, or 0.5%, on Monday to close at 2825 on turnover of $70 million.

Telecom was up 4 cents to $2.59, Fletcher Building was down 10c to $6.75, Contact Energy was down 1c to $5.88, Pumpkin Patch was down 1c to $1.34 and Sky Television was unchanged at $4.30.

The dollar is trading at 63.75 US cents, 78.97 Australian cents, 38.90 pence, 62.70 yen and 0.4570 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 60.49.

Across the Tasman, the Australian share market closed in the red as lower base metal prices weighed on the resources sector.

The S&P/ASX200 index was down 30.5 points, or 0.75%, to 4031.7, while the All Ordinaries index shed 31.1 points, or 0.77%, to 4030.4.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the June share price index contract was 38 points lower at 4022 on a volume of 93,657 contracts.
